2020 Dodge Durango | Price, Features and Performance

The Dodge Durango has been a stalwart of the seven-seater, three row SUV market since its launch in 1998. Focusing on muscle power and ruggedness rather than following the latest crossover trends, it offers a capable and satisfying drive in any conditions.

With the range now into its third generation, a new refresh has been announced for 2020. What are the 2020 Dodge Durango features that most impress?

2020 Dodge Durango Powertrain Options

There are three powertrain options covering the five different Durango versions. As standard, a 3.6L V6 engine pushes out 293 horsepower, while upgrading to the optional 5.7L V8 will yield 360hp for a little extra performance.

But if that's still not enough, the top-line option of a 6.4L V8 produces 475 horsepower along with a towing capacity of 3950kg, and is available with the Durango SRT trim. While this configuration certainly provides plenty of power, even the smaller engine options can handle nearly any situation you'll encounter, both on-road and off.

Every 2020 Durango features a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive standard across the range.

As you'd expect from such a wide range of engine sizes, fuel economy varies according to the trim. The base-level V6 offers figures of 12.7L / 100km in the city and 9.6L / 100km on the highway, while the meatiest V8 engine sends those figures up to 18L / 100km in the city and 12.7L / 100km on the highway.

Exterior and Styling

The body shape of the Durango leaves no doubt about its intended role in life. Ignoring the recent trend for sportback or coupe-like SUVs, the Durango is muscular amd chunky, with bold sculpted lines and imposing features from the large grille to the full-width taillight strip. It's a solid, good-looking SUV, especially with the higher trims adding chrome accents and other refinements.

Interior Features

The Dodge Durango comes with a good range of interior features, as you'd expect from a family-oriented SUV. The base-level trim comes with features such as automatic tri-zone climate control, a 7" touchscreen for the infotainment system, and dual USB ports for device charging.

Move up the trim levels and added extras such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start to appear, along with larger screens and more capable audio features.

The cabin is comfortable and spacious, seating up to seven adults, and the standard cloth seating can be upgraded to luxurious leather with the higher trims. Powered seats with adjustment position memory are an option, and the second row can be upgraded to provide captain's chairs for added comfort on longer journeys.

Pricing Levels and Warranty

The 2020 Dodge Durango is available in five standard trims, although each can be upgraded with a choice of extras. The base SXT model starts at $45,895, and the range tops out at $74,395 for the luxurious V8 SRT model.

All Durango models are covered by the standard Dodge warranty of five years or 100,000km.
